Prayer Chaplain Training

July 26 @ 10:24 am

Facilitated by Rev. Kathy Zavada & Rev. Lynn Fritz

We invite you to consider taking the next step by deepening your understanding of a more powerful way to pray and connect with the Creative Power of the Universe, by becoming a Prayer Chaplain.

Our Prayer Chaplain Training Program is an intensive retreat over two days on July 26 and 27th. We offer this training both in person and online.

No prior experience in prayer or praying is required to serve as a Prayer Chaplain. However, you must be a formal member of UCOA to attend this training.

Training will be held in person at the Havurah, 185 N. Mountain Ave., in Ashland.

We welcome a Love offering donation for receiving the training.

To sign-up for the July 26-27 Prayer Chaplain Training, download, complete, and return the application form. Just click the button below to get started:

Open Hands

Being a Prayer Chaplain is a unique opportunity to be of spiritual service to members of our spiritual community while you learn more about yourself in the process.

The Prayer Chaplin Program enables participants to learn Affirmative Prayer in a powerful and more in-depth way. Then, we invite you to share what you have learned by extending it to others in our spiritual community.

What PC’s Do

Prayer Chaplains are an extension of our ministry team and help us to make a more personal connection with our membership.

Prayer Chaplains are trained to do three things:

  • hold spiritual space
  • listen
  • pray

What PC’s Do Not Do

Unlike hospital, hospice or military chaplains, Prayer Chaplains are not:

  • ordained;
  • trained to counsel people;
  • board certified by any nationally known organization.

Prayer Chaplains are not trained to go out and “minister” to the larger community, but are trained as a lay resource to help meet individuals with our community at the point of their need.

Requirements

Prayer Chaplains are asked:

  • to be available for monthly one-on-one prayer with congregants;
  • to attend periodic Prayer Chaplain meetings;
  • to commit to one year of service;
  • to attend 14 hours of training.
