Like many of her contemporaries\, she searched for fulfillment through relationships\, career\, motherhood\, subculture experiences\, political activism\, and spiritual practice. \n\n\n\nWhile she had never planned to go to India\, it was on the banks of the Ganges River that her search ended. In 1990\, Gangaji met her teacher\, Sri H.W.L. Diane Scribner will join us in person. \n\n\n\nDiane\, joyfully nicknamed\, “The woman of a thousand prayers”\, is delighted to be the senior minister of Pray Attention Ministries\, based out of Naples FL. \n\n\n\nDiane serves where she is led globally — speaking\, teaching\, writing\, taking part in retreats and spiritual experiences in the US\, Honduras\, Peru\, Costa Rica\, Nepal\, Brazil and Mexico. As an adventurer\, she trekked 480 miles across Spain on El Camino and summited the world’s highest mountain pass in Nepal.  \n\n\n\nShe served four years as senior minister of Unity of Naples and over 12 years at Unity of Roanoke Valley VA; and\, is an author\, TV host & radio personality and 2009 recipient of the YWCA Women of Achievement Award in Religion. DESCRIPTION:Due to a glitch in the software\, the time showing above is wrong.This event is 6:00 to 9:00pm. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are excited to come together as spiritual community and celebrate our first year and all the wonderful ways we have grown and expanded. \n\n\n\nAnd\, we most of all wish to celebrate YOU\, our beloved community! \n\n\n\nThis is a fundraiser and a very special landmark occasion.We hope to see you there! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSilent Auction\n\n\n\nWe begin the evening with a Greet & Celebrate Hour and Silent Auction. Assorted wines\, desserts\, appetizers and treats will be available as we enjoy time with each other while perusing and bidding on items throughout the evening. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMusic\n\n\n\nAt 7pm\, a local\, wonderfully fun\, funky-blues-jazz dance band\, Two Matts and a Jack will begin playing. They will play two 45-minute sets. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd\, be ready…Rev. Kathy will join them on piano for a couple of songs. Now\, that’s a celebration! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nTickets for all seats are $25/each\, but we are grateful for a donation above that amount as this is our year end fundraiser for UCOA’s big plans in 2025! I have spent many years on a journey learning about love\, desiring to open to and express greater love and I have found that one of the greatest expressions of love possible\, is forgiveness. Perhaps because it is sometimes the hardest way to express love\, it is most precious.Forgiveness is a big deal; it is a cleaned slate. And without it\, we cannot fully know the presence of peace. It softens us\, loosens our deeply ingrained habits and hardened stances\, and it releases us into an awareness of greater freedom.We will explore how we can get trapped in “the mind of aversion”\, and how it is a kind and a wise thing to free our mind from aversion in all of its form while we have the time to practice and cultivate equanimity.We will explore how to forgive is not to condone actions that are negative or harmful. We can use discriminating wisdom\, forgive and still get ourselves out of a situation that is unhealthy\, intolerable\, or toxic in any way.And we will explore in more depth the unique process of self-forgiveness. We’ll explore how regret need not make us suffer\, but can be useful in that it reminds us of the past so we might learn from it\, respond to it\, and be a better person as a result.I look forward to exploring together how we may all develop our capacity to let go of the past\, let go of animosity and judgment\, and experience forgiveness as the ultimate peacemaker. Kathy Zavada is a safe and supportive environment to help those who are going through a process of grieving. Grief can feel daunting\, especially in the first year of bereavement. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\n\n\nMeditation\, chanting\, and sharing from the heart.  \n\n\n\nWe will share what does and doesn’t work for us in our grieving process.\n \n\n\n\nWe will provide a gently guided circle and create a space for each person to share their grief process and favorite memories of the person who died.\n \n\n\n\nWe will discuss what our relationship with the person who is no longer in the physical realm feels like.\n \n\n\n\nWe will honor all emotions and create a nurturing circle to understand and explore our grieving process.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLove Offerings\n\n\n\nAttendance is by donation to support UCOA and are greatly appreciated. Einstein said imagination was even more important than knowledge\, that it was essential for us to be curious\, to often wonder what more is possible for us\, in our lives\, and for humanity.I believe each of our lives has a sacred purpose. And we should often ask\, what is the still voice inside asking of me now? What am I here to learn? What am I here to offer? What does my present authentic expression look like? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoseph Campbell describes our life journey as the Hero’s Journey\, the call to adventure\, a grand summons that beckons the hero to leave old concepts and conditioning and journey forth into new ways of being. And\, the hero is usually reluctant to leave what is comfortable and habitual\, often refusing the call or delaying it. We often find change calling\, but it feels like an inconvenient time or just too much effort.But\, once the hero accepts the call\, then he or she receives special aid on the adventure; magical allies who help the hero make important decisions and discover new possibilities in themselves. Using intuition\, you can process an entire dream and instantly retrieve the dream wisdom. Once I dreamed of someone being held up at gunpoint. Setting my surprise aside\, my intuitive mind quickly signaled the “hold up” or delay of an impending contract. \n\n\n\nIntuition can illuminate dreams to provide previews of upcoming events.
