Assorted wines\, desserts\, appetizers and treats will be available as we enjoy time with each other while perusing and bidding on items throughout the evening. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMusic\n\n\n\nAt 7pm\, a local\, wonderfully fun\, funky-blues-jazz dance band\, Two Matts and a Jack will begin playing. They will play two 45-minute sets. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd\, be ready…Rev. Kathy will join them on piano for a couple of songs. I have spent many years on a journey learning about love\, desiring to open to and express greater love and I have found that one of the greatest expressions of love possible\, is forgiveness. Perhaps because it is sometimes the hardest way to express love\, it is most precious.Forgiveness is a big deal; it is a cleaned slate. And without it\, we cannot fully know the presence of peace. It softens us\, loosens our deeply ingrained habits and hardened stances\, and it releases us into an awareness of greater freedom.We will explore how we can get trapped in “the mind of aversion”\, and how it is a kind and a wise thing to free our mind from aversion in all of its form while we have the time to practice and cultivate equanimity.We will explore how to forgive is not to condone actions that are negative or harmful. We can use discriminating wisdom\, forgive and still get ourselves out of a situation that is unhealthy\, intolerable\, or toxic in any way.And we will explore in more depth the unique process of self-forgiveness. We’ll explore how regret need not make us suffer\, but can be useful in that it reminds us of the past so we might learn from it\, respond to it\, and be a better person as a result.I look forward to exploring together how we may all develop our capacity to let go of the past\, let go of animosity and judgment\, and experience forgiveness as the ultimate peacemaker. Kathy Zavada is a safe and supportive environment to help those who are going through a process of grieving. Grief can feel daunting\, especially in the first year of bereavement. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\n\n\nMeditation\, chanting\, and sharing from the heart.  \n\n\n\nWe will share what does and doesn’t work for us in our grieving process.\n \n\n\n\nWe will provide a gently guided circle and create a space for each person to share their grief process and favorite memories of the person who died.\n \n\n\n\nWe will discuss what our relationship with the person who is no longer in the physical realm feels like.\n \n\n\n\nWe will honor all emotions and create a nurturing circle to understand and explore our grieving process.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLove Offerings\n\n\n\nAttendance is by donation to support UCOA and are greatly appreciated. Einstein said imagination was even more important than knowledge\, that it was essential for us to be curious\, to often wonder what more is possible for us\, in our lives\, and for humanity.I believe each of our lives has a sacred purpose. And we should often ask\, what is the still voice inside asking of me now? What am I here to learn? What am I here to offer? What does my present authentic expression look like? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoseph Campbell describes our life journey as the Hero’s Journey\, the call to adventure\, a grand summons that beckons the hero to leave old concepts and conditioning and journey forth into new ways of being. And\, the hero is usually reluctant to leave what is comfortable and habitual\, often refusing the call or delaying it. We often find change calling\, but it feels like an inconvenient time or just too much effort.But\, once the hero accepts the call\, then he or she receives special aid on the adventure; magical allies who help the hero make important decisions and discover new possibilities in themselves. Lynn Fritz \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConsider stepping into a bold new way of being of Sacred Service and of learning a powerful transformative way to pray. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe invite you to consider taking the next step by deepening your understanding of a more powerful way to pray and connect with the Creative Power of the Universe\, by becoming a Prayer Chaplain. \n\n\n\nOur Prayer Chaplain Training Program is an intensive retreat over two days on July 26 and 27th. We offer this training both in person and online. \n\n\n\nNo prior experience in prayer or praying is required to serve as a Prayer Chaplain. However\, you must be a formal member of UCOA to attend this training. \n\n\n\nTraining will be held in person at the Havurah\, 185 N. Then\, we invite you to share what you have learned by extending it to others in our spiritual community. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat PC’s Do\n\n\n\nPrayer Chaplains are an extension of our ministry team and help us to make a more personal connection with our membership. \n\n\n\nPrayer Chaplains are trained to do three things: \n\n\n\n\nhold spiritual space\n\n\n\nlisten \n\n\n\npray\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat PC’s Do Not Do\n\n\n\nUnlike hospital\, hospice or military chaplains\, Prayer Chaplains are not: \n\n\n\n\nordained;\n\n\n\ntrained to counsel people;\n\n\n\nboard certified by any nationally known organization. \n\n\n\n\nPrayer Chaplains are not trained to go out and “minister” to the larger community\, but are trained as a lay resource to help meet individuals with our community at the point of their need.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequirements\n\n\n\nPrayer Chaplains are asked: \n\n\n\n\nto be available for monthly one-on-one prayer with congregants;\n\n\n\nto attend periodic Prayer Chaplain meetings;\n\n\n\nto commit to one year of service;\n\n\n\nto attend 14 hours of training.

She has performed at major festivals and for spiritual teachers Ram Dass\, Amma the hugging Saint\, and three Divine Mother Saints of India. \n\n\n\nShe is inspired by the Divine Mother and here to honor and uplift the Divine Feminine in all. SUMMARY:New Member Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:We will take a few minutes during Sunday Service and welcome our New Members with a special ceremony. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRev. Kathy welcome’s UCOA’s first group of new members in February 2024 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRev. Kathy will invite our in-person new members to come up front while those online will be highlighted on the screen. \n\n\n\n\nRev. Kathy will ask new members to affirm a few statements of faith;\n\n\n\nwe will share some lovely words of welcoming to them;\n\n\n\nthey will be offered a small gift from UCOA; and\, then\,\n\n\n\nwe will all sing to them.\n\n\n\n\nNew Members will have taken the New Member Introduction & Orientation class the week prior on Sunday\, June 9.

DESCRIPTION:We are extending an invitation for all our attendees — both in-person and online — to consider becoming members of Unity Community of Ashland. \n\n\n\nIf you are interested in becoming a member\, please download\, complete\, and return the UCOA New Member Form before June 9. You may return a completed form in-person on Sundays or via email. \n\n\n\nTo get started\, download the form by clicking the button below: \n\n\n\n\nnew member form\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Become a Member?\n\n\n\nBecoming a member of UCOA is a step towards taking a deeper commitment to your spiritual life. It is really a personal choice: \n\n\n\n\nto deepen your personal spiritual journey;\n\n\n\nto practice with your spiritual community consistently; and\,\n\n\n\nit also is a way we grow the love\, connection\, and expanding gifts of this circle of community.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMember Privileges\n\n\n\nMembership enables people: \n\n\n\n\nto become board members;\n\n\n\nincludes a 10% discount on retreats and workshops;\n\n\n\nto vote on important changes to bylaws and activities at UCOA; and\,\n\n\n\nmay attend prayer chaplain training on July 26-27\, 2024.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew Member Ceremony\n\n\n\nWe will have a New Member Ceremony honoring both our in-person and online members on the following Sunday\, June 16 during Service. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you are interested in becoming a member\, please download and complete the UCOA New Member Form (click the button below).
